The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) provides one-week capability development programmes in Singapore that are carefully curated for the international community at the city level, including governors, mayors, city leaders and urban sector officials.

Tailored Programmes in Urban Governance, Sustainability and Sustainable Financing
Leveraging practical examples of Singapore’s development experience, our programmes focus on key principles that are anchored on the Singapore Liveability Framework in relation to the governance and planning of sustainable urban infrastructure. Through these efforts, CLC hopes for cities around the world to be able to join Singapore in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) encapsulated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in securing a liveable and resilient future.
CLC also develops programmes on Sustainable Financing for Cities that would share practical knowledge of key issues in the sustainable financing of urban infrastructure initiatives through a holistic approach that considers inter-linked issues, notably, the environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. To that end, the programme aims to raise awareness and deepen city officials’ knowledge in the sustainable financing of cities.
Innovative Learning Methodologies with Practitioner Insights
Typically spanning 5 days, the programmes feature experienced urban development practitioners who will share policies, best practices and lessons learnt on sustainable city planning and implementation. The teaching methodology adopts a blend of lectures, learning journeys and action-planning sessions. Depending on the profile, level of seniority and needs of the participating region and/or cities, the programmes will include a unique mix of the following elements:
Lectures and interactive sessions
Case studies
Active participation and presentations
Cross-sharing of experiences and challenges
Learning journeys to public, private and people organizations
Networking with private solution providers
Action planning sessions with resource persons (for selected programmes)
Collaborative Platforms for Global Idea Exchange
Partners of CLC's international programmes include the Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Temasek Foundation, World Bank, UN-Habitat, and others. The modality of each partnered programme is customized to the requirements of our partners in terms of cities invited, topics of interest, and format of the programme.
Participating cities can also engage in these exclusive platforms that facilitate the cross-pollination of ideas among cities, fostering collaboration and shared learning experiences.
