Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Singapore Cooperation Programme, CLC co-curates the course on "Urban Development Towards a Smart Nation Vision," a key thematic workshop under the Japan-Singapore Partnership Programme for the 21st Century (JSPP21) with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This course is designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of sustainable urban development and Smart Nation initiatives applied in both Japan and Singapore.

The programme combines CLC’s knowledge expertise in sustainable urban planning and development with insights from JICA to offer a more comprehensive learning experience. Lectures and discussions on critical aspects of urban planning and governance would cover topics such as Land Use Planning, Transport, Housing, and Sustainable Environment. Participants also benefit from immersive learning journeys to key public and private sites to reinforce their learnings in the classroom.

Likewise, JICA shares their valuable knowledge on Japan’s urban spatial planning framework, mobility planning, smart city development, and community design initiatives.

By the end of the programme, participants will have acquired more knowledge and skills on taking an integrated approach to sustainable urban development planning in drawing on best practices and lessons learned from Singapore and Japan.
